The school
Yoga et Méditation Paris teaches a style of yoga that was brought together by Swami Satyananda Saraswati. It is constructed around techniques, methods and approaches from the traditions of hatha yoga and tantra. This style is characterised by the diversity and depth of its techniques and for its adherence to the authentic tradition.
The school
The school Yoga et Méditation Paris was created by the Swedish yogi Christian Möllenhoff, who has trained in the traditional way, under the guidance of Swami Janakanada Saraswati, the founder of the Scandinavian Yoga and Meditation School.
The yoga taught is based on the yoga system of Swami Satyananda Saraswati. It is a modern interpretation of a yoga derived from several old traditions. With its broad range of practices, with its depth and with its ties to tantra, this system is unique in the west.
The Satyananda lineage
Swami Satyananda Saraswati was the disciple of Swami Sivananda Saraswati, one of the best known expounders of yoga to the west in the last century. After 12 years in his ashram Satyananda travelled extensively in India and nearby countries. As a spiritual vagabond he received a number of initiations from different tantric traditions. His genius has been to crystallise his knowledge into a system adapted to our time.
Swami Janakananda is one of the most prominent of Satyananda’s disciples. He has specialised in intense retreats that allows him to transmit his yogic heritage under the best possible conditions. His approach to yoga is celebrated for its depth, its power and for respecting traditional methods. He is one of the few in Europe to educate his yoga teachers in a traditional way.
